SINGER/SONGWRITER/MULTI-INSTRUMENTALIST JAKE THISTLE RELEASES“GHOSTED ROAD”

Things have certainly come full circle for Jake Thistle.

The rising singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist knew he wanted to be a musician at three years old, when he saw Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Today, Thistle is 18 years old; and yet, his resume boasts performances with – you guessed it – the Heartbreakers. Not to mention a performance slot at Tom Petty’s posthumous (and virtual) 70th birthday celebration.

Thistle has just released his newest single, “Ghosted Road,” along with the accompanying video. Both the track and the video are available via all streaming platforms now.

"Ghosted Road began less out of story and more from trying to paint a scene,” shares Thistle.

“I actually wrote the song under a blinking traffic light outside a house I was staying at, so the song came from wanting to convey how lonely that atmosphere seemed at that time of night. The song is a continuation of my love of writing about roads, traveling, and the overall mystery of going to new places."

The video for “Ghosted Road” was shot live, as Thistle recorded the track at Lakehouse Studios in New Jersey. The video captures the process of crafting the song as well as a particular moment in Thistle’s career.

Born and raised in Paramus, NJ, Thistle first picked up a guitar at nine years old and began gigging less than six months after that. He was playing bars at 10 years old.

“At one of the first of those bars, I played alongside the lead guitarist for Blood, Sweat and Tears,” remembers Thistle. “He really liked me and gave me my only handful of live lessons before he went back on tour. Other than that, I’m self-taught. When I was 11, John Hiatt brought me on stage to play/sing his encore to a full house, which was another important moment for me. Then when I was 12, I was hired to play in the UK for a Bruce Springsteen fan event, which was also special.”

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Thistle used his time in lockdown to record, produce, mix, and master his demo debut album Down The Line, which led American Songwriter to deem him “poised to lead the much-needed revival of classic ‘70s singer/songwriters.”

Thistle has also been featured on CBS News, Variety, Billboard, BBC Radio, The Record, WCBS FM, NYC's Q104.3 FM, Norman's Rare Guitars, All Guitar Network, and a wide range of other news outlets.

To date, Thistle has played with a host of legends like the aforementioned Heartbreakers and John Hiatt. Others including Jim Keltner (Traveling Wilburys, Bob Dylan), Earl Slick (David Bowie/John Lennon), Jesse Malin, Carmen Vandeberg (Jeff Beck), Severo (The Smithereens), Alex and Roy Orbison Jr, and others. He has also been on bills with the likes of Jackson Browne, Stevie Nicks, Foo Fighters, Eddie Vedder, Roger McGuinn, Steve Earle, Tom Morello, The Lumineers, and Wilco.

Most impressively, perhaps, Thistle is involved in several charitable causes. He has helped raise millions – and has personally raised over $100,000 – for organizations like the American Cancer Society, WhyHunger, and Tazzy Fund/Rock the Dogs.

“I’m very inspired by the human condition in relation to the current state of the world, and how people interact across different relationships,” shares Thistle.

“I’m excited to continue making and putting out as much music as I can and seeing where this journey takes me. I strive to appreciate the opportunities I have as I have them, while still working as hard as possible to create new ones for the future. Music is the future, and I want to be able to build upon the prospects I’ve had to date.”
